Designed by ACT Lighting Design, Tree Rings, has been conceived as part ecological lighting scheme and part art installation. The scheme transforms the two hundred plane trees that line the 2.4 kilometres of Avenue des Champs-Elysées in Paris into light sculptures.

In daylight hours the inner lights of each of the three rings emit a soft glow of light. At dusk, vibrant programmed displays begin, using both the inner and outer lights, continuing until 2am. The entire scheme is programmable to create vastly different effects with over 80,000 000 possible combinations per tree.

Based in Brussels and with projects in over 22 countries, ACT Lighting Design work across architectural, entertainment and art sectors.

The project will be on display on the Avenue des Champs-Elysées in Paris until 2014.
