Winning design by Coombs+Jones Architects

The scheme A Welsh Landscape by Coombs+Jones has been announced as the winner of the National Eisteddfod Architecture Pavilion competition. It will be built as the architecture pavilion for the National Eisteddfod in the Vale of Glamorgan, Wales, in August 2012.

The jury of the competition commented:
“The scheme is a delightful gem which carries through the poetry of the design to the detail. Named as A Welsh Landscape, its timber construction surrounded by a grid of trees, is a beautiful interpretation of countryside around us. It will truly become part of the Welsh landscape once it is built as part of the National Eisteddfod.”

The National Eisteddfod will be held in the Vale of Glamorgan, South Wales between 04-11 August 2012. The Eisteddfod’s aim is to promote the Welsh language and culture, influencing an area culturally, linguistically, economically and and developing a sense of local and national wellbeing and citizenship amongst the people of Wales and its supporters.
