Key specifiers
For an advertisement to work effectively, the magazine has to reach the target audience. To achieve this Architecture Today uses the most advanced circulation system available, with data updated on a daily basis.
Architecture Today is sent to the key specifiers in the building industry. Using the latest data from the Architects Registration Board (ARB) as well as individuals and practices, free copies are mailed to some 19,000 architects in full-time practice in the UK. It is also sent to over 1000 key members of related professions architectural technologists, interior designers etc.
The latest ABC Profile audit (2007) shows an average net circulation of 21,086 (20,926 in the UK). For the audit issue (May 2007) the total net circulation is 21,140 (20,997 UK).
The controlled free circulation is 95% requested. Nine-tenths of the requested circulation is individually requested, either in writing or online, and 61% of requests are less than 12 months old.
... at their workplace
To ensure that Architecture Today is sent to those architects who are actually working, demographic information is collected from three sources and monitored on a continuous basis:
• Architectural practices
Architecture Today is unique among architectural titles in checking its circulation data with the architectural practices direct. The practices on the database are contacted each year and asked to check and confirm the list of names held for them, making additions and deletions as appropriate.
• Individual architects
Information about employment status and place of work is collected from readers through the reader enquiry system, the requested readership process which generates more than 1,000 requests per month and via changes of address notified direct.
• ARB Register of Architects
Changes to the Register of Architects are received on a regular basis from the statutory registration body, the Architects Registration Board. Each architect’s unique number from the Register is incorporated into their reader number, avoiding any risk of duplication.
Use of data from these three key sources ensures that there is no ‘waste’ in the circulation no retired or unemployed architects or students. Architecture Today is received by those architects who are actually working and are therefore in a position to specify products and services.
