For many people, quality of life stems from the opportunity to work with an architect and create a bespoke home that suits their needs. Nowhere is that collaborative spirit more in evidence than at Burma Road in north London, where a modular, Flushglaze fixed rooflight from Glazing Vision has been was incorporated into a kitchen renovation scheme by Brian O’Tuama Architects. Many of the area’s Victorian terraced homes are owned by people employed in creative industries, and represent the perfect canvas for families wanting to make a mark on their properties.

The brief was to make a bright, comfortable family space featuring an open-plan dining area and kitchen. Maximising connectivity to the house and garden, as well as maintaining good levels of daylight in the rear reception room were critical to the design.

Practicality was also important, as with no rear access to the property, all building products and materials would have to be of an appropriate size and weight to be carried through the house.

Crucially, Brian O’Tuama Architects was able to work with Glazing Vision to fine tune the design of the Flushglaze Eaves rooflight, ensuring that its appearance, junction details and flashings complemented the overall design aesthetic.

“The general response and level of information from Glazing Vision was superior,” says Brian O’Tuama. “The options were presented to the client and agreement reached that Glazing Vision would be a nominated supplier. This allowed them to play an important role in making the client’s vision of their dream home a reality.”
