STONEPANEL™ from Taylor Maxwell is an innovative stone cladding system designed for walls and facades. It comprises individual z-shaped panels made from natural stone, including quartzite, gneiss, limestone, sandstone and slate. The stone is precast into a cement base that is reinforced with a lightweight metal or fibreglass mesh.
STONEPANEL™ is ideal for the housing sector, providing a unique high-quality finish to elevations. It is also quick and easy to install, and does not require specialist labour. House builder Morris Homes chose STONEPANEL™ for 80 homes forming part of the Vista development in Peterborough – one of the country’s largest zero-carbon residential schemes. “The fixing of the stone cladding worked brilliantly and looks fantastic”, comments site manager Gary Davies. “The elevations are extra special, and the stonework looks like it has been laid by a stonemason, even though it is effectively a jigsaw of Stonepanel™ pieces. The bricklayers also made a really good job of it.”
STONEPANEL™ can be up to ten times faster to install than traditional walling, with a 2:1 work gang typically completing 20-25 square metres per day. The product can be easily cut on-site using an electric grinder or site cutting bench. Each of the z-shaped pieces are laid in a stretcher bond to eliminate continuous vertical joints.
STONEPANEL™ Sky is recommended for installations over two metres high. The system features an additional hook precast into the back of each panel to allow for mechanical fixing. Used in conjunction with adhesive, it provides high levels of strength and durability.
Suitable for indoor and outdoor installations, STONEPANEL™ is BBA certified when fixed to blockwork. It also comes in a wide range of stone finishes. Different sizes, including 610 (560) x 1.25mm and 600 (550) x 200mm are available, together with special corner pieces for return elevations. The latter can be used to create a continuous monolithic aesthetic.
