A range of aluminium glazing solutions from Senior Architectural Systems have been specified for use at the new Feethams leisure development in Darlington. They include the patented PURe® aluminium window system which offers some of the lowest U-values available on the UK market.

The leisure development is on the site of a former bus depot in the centre of the town and is set to play a vital role in helping to boost the local economy and employment with the creation of a new cinema, hotel and several restaurants.

The overall design scheme has been heavily influenced by the local landscape, with the traditional-style red brick arches of the lower levels paying homage to Darlington’s railway heritage and providing a contrast with the glazed areas above that feature doors, windows and curtain walling from Senior’s extensive product range.

Installed by leading fabricator Neu Glas, Senior’s innovative PURe® aluminium windows have been installed to the scheme’s new Premier Inn hotel. The system’s exceptionally low U-values and excellent acoustic performance help to create a comfortable interior environment for guests.

To establish a light and modern feel, the restaurant and retail buildings incorporate Senior’s slim-line curtain walling and SPW500 doors, the curved curtain walling of the new cinema complex adding further interest. Developed by Urban + Civic, the project has been delivered by main contractor McLaughlin & Harvey and designed by Niven Architects.
