Vision 2017, the annual built environment exposition, will take place at Olympia in London from 6-7 June, when architects, designers and manufacturers will gather for two days of CPD-certified learning and networking. This year’s show, at which Architecture Today is a media partner, is themed around Materials Innovations, Technological Insight, and Architectural & Design Evolution.

A full speaker programme includes the first ever lecture from BIG’s London studio. Technical director Andy Young will outline his practice’s ‘yes is more’ approach to architecture, and consider the design of future workplaces.

Another keynote speaker is UN Studio’s Caroline Bos, who will explore the rise of the digital marketplace and the sharing economy, along with the shift from spending on goods to ‘experiences’.

As part of the Vision Late Night on 6 June, New London Architecture will host a PechaKucha event. The fast-paced talks will align with the organistation’s new Insight Study, London: Design Capital, showcasing the innovations, technologies and projects that are currently being developed in the city for international projects.

Complementing the exhibition and speaker programme is a series of special features and installations. WASP will give live demonstrations of an innovative new process that allows it to 3D print buildings out of recycled plastics, clay or ceramics. Axalta’s eye-catching ICONICA installation will showcase the manufacturer’s powder-coated colour range.

Zaha Hadid Architects’ Stefano Paiocchi will demonstrate that 3D-printed dresses can inform the way we crate complex buildings for the development of smarter cities.

Bucking the Brexit trend, Vision has partnered with various international trade authorities from countries across Europe who will be represented at the event in a number of pavilions, each housing multiple participants.

Additional networking opportunities are provided by Vision’s Meetings Programme, which enables registered visitors and exhibitors to search and connect with each other in advance of the event. Meetings are then scheduled to take place on exhibitors’ stands during the event.
